AAEM(Acetoacetoxyethyl Methacrylate) is one of the most important products in Shenzhen Prechem's portfolio of acrylates, designed to improve the performance of acrylic polymers in coatings and adhesives. Especially for the requirements to improve adhesion, reduce glass transition temperature (can improve the elasticity and toughness of the coating), reduce the viscosity of the system (especially for high solid content system) and improve the cross-linking density has a very good effect. It also improves the adhesion of coatings to metal, ore and wood surfaces.
Compared to the solvent system, the water-based system provides us with a more environmentally friendly and healthy alternative. However, water is more difficult to fully evaporate from the system than other organic solvents. Therefore, water-based systems reduce the drying time of the coating by increasing the solid content as much as possible. Unfortunately, most high solids systems also have very high viscosity, which makes it very difficult to operate. The addition of AAEM reduces the viscosity of the acrylic polymer system, allowing the builder to easily use a water-based system with zero solvent volatilization.
The addition of AAEM helped improve the durability and toughness of water-based polymers, which, when cured at room temperature, tend to have intrinsic performance deficiencies compared to solvent systems, such as durability and toughness, and significantly improved scratch resistance and dust adhesion.
